A new addition for 2017 from Fulling Mill Ambassador and Sea Trout expert, Steffan Jones.
Steffan says, “This pattern is based on Max James’ (a bailiff from the River Towy who sadly passed away a couple of season ago, but accounted for more big fish than most could dream of during his time on the river)
Towy Special, a pattern that was immortalised in Charles Bingham’s book ‘Sea trout: How to catch them’.
Even though it has been slightly bastardised in my version, I believe enough remains to warrant it to be called Max’s pattern.
You will see an intruder style to the dressing, but Max was fishing this pattern decades ago before such patterns became fashionable.
